Students read together for DEAR Day

Grandview-Hopkins ISD recently held D.E.A.R or Drop Everything and Read Day, a national celebration of reading. The day began with select students getting to read over the intercom system to the entire school. Guest readers stopped by and entertained the students with their storytelling skills. When they weren’t being read to, children lounged about and enjoyed the slower pace of getting lost in a book for longer periods of time. The crowd favorite for the kids was pairing up with a student from a different grade level and reading to each other. Instead of slowing down to smell the flowers, in this digital age,it’s a good reminder to slow down and turn the pages.
