Parents and Friends,

Now that the Christmas holidays are almost here, and the end of the first semester is rapidly approaching, I wanted to provide an update and some information to you about what is going on at the school.

First of all, thank you for all of your support during what has been a very different year for all of us. Thankfully we have been able to keep the school open and have face-to-face classes up to this point. That is due in great part to your diligence in monitoring your child's health and keeping them home when they are sick. There have been several cases of quarantine for you when family members have been ill or waiting on test results, along various other scenarios, but thankfully we have not had any positive COVID-19 cases among students or staff this first semester. Once again, thank you for your help and support in keeping your child and others healthy and well during this time.

The holiday events at the school will be different because of what is going on, but we are still going to try and provide a measure of Christmas cheer for the students during the next couple of weeks. First of all, your child should have brought a note home last Friday about a virtual Christmas musical the students are working on. We had hopes of a live performance, but in the light of everything going on, that didn't seem like the wise thing to do. It's not quite the same, but in order for you to be able to see what the children have been working on, we will be filming the performance and putting a link to the video on the website, along with providing a copy of the program on a thumb drive to give to each family.

One thing we will miss is our visit with Santa after the Christmas program. He is still going to come by the school, but because we are doing the Christmas concert virtually and there won't be a chance to talk to him after the concert, he is planning on making a stop in each classroom during the Christmas parties on Thursday, December 17th. He will have a treat for the children, and he will spend some time in each classroom. The Christmas parties are another area in which we have always had parents and other visitors, but this year the parties will only be open to students and teachers. The teachers will take pictures to share with you and will be in touch with you about snacks for the parties.

Please let your child's teacher or the office know if you have any questions or need further information about anything.

Thank you,

Mr. Hargis
