School News from Mr. Hargis

April 28, 2020

I hope this finds everyone doing well as we continue to move through this difficult and trying time. Hopefully we are getting closer to the time when some of this high level of concern will start to fade, and things will settle down for all of us.The Governor is trying to open up the state a little more each week, and I know we are all looking forward to that happening.

We are so grateful for all of you and for the work you are doing with your children during this time of at-home instruction. You are doing a great job, sometimes under difficult circumstances, working with your children to complete the work in the packets that have been sent home. Just know that the work you are doing now will make a big difference for your children when we return to school in August. It is not the same as being at school and sitting in the classroom, but hopefully it keeps their minds working and thinking as we anticipate the return to the classroom.

We are going to adjust the packet pick up and drop off time to help those of you who have been unable to make it out here on Friday afternoons. Beginning this week, we will have the packets ready on Thursday afternoons from 5:00-6:30 pm,. They will also still be available for pick up on Friday at the regular time of 10:00-2:30.

We are starting look toward the end of this time of at-home instruction, and I want to share a timeline we are looking at to finish up the school year. We are also looking at ways to celebrate Kindergarten and 6th grade graduation, and will let you know in the next couple of weeks what that might look like. For now, this is what we are looking at as far wrapping up the year. The building is still closed, but the school office will be open from 9:00-3:00 most days, and either Mrs. Brown or myself will be available if you need help or need to call the school for anything.

April 30, May 1         Packet Pick up and drop off

May 7-8                     Packet pick up and drop off

May 11-15                 9:00-3:00 each day- Drop off all remaining packets, pick up school supplies and other things left at school, return library books, etc.

Thank you,

Mr. Hargis
