Grandview-Hopkins News

April 02, 2020

We are still missing all of you and it was very good to see so many of our Grandview-Hopkins family on Monday either here at the school or in Pampa at the bus stop. It seems like we have been out of school for a long time, but it has really only been two weeks of at-home instruction. I think it seems longer because of Spring Break at the front end of all this. Regardless, we are still hopeful that at the end of the current executive order, we will be able to return to school for a few weeks before summer vacation. In the meantime, we pray you are staying well and we look forward to being back together with you.

As we sent out earlier, and as you all know, the mandatory school closure has been extended by Governor Abbott until May 4th. During the time of the closure, Grandview-Hopkins will continue to provide at-home instructional materials to your students. We will make instructional packets available to all of our students to work on at home like we did this week. In addition, the teachers are also working to provide more online resources and methods of communication for those of you that have internet access at home. Check the website and the teacher pages on the website for resources and information. In addition, the teachers will be posting office hours in which they will available for your phone calls, and possibly setting up some ZOOM meetings with some of the classes.

One change in our procedure will be the accountability attached to the work being sent home. From this point on, all the papers and worksheets sent home will be graded by the teachers. As far as returning the work to the school, in an abundance of caution, we are asking you to hold on to the packets, and we will ask for them back when we return to school on May 4th. This does not include the first packet sent home this week. We are not asking for it back to be graded.

PLEASE NOTE: We are making a change to the packet delivery method this week, and we are altering our schedule on the delivery of those packets. As a cautionary measure, and as a result of the shelter at home order in force now in Pampa, we will not be delivering the packets to the Pampa bus stop on Monday like we did this week. Because of that change, and in order to get the packets to you in a timely manner, we will have the packets available to pick up at the school TOMORROW AFTERNOON, Friday, April 3rd, from noon until 3:00 pm. In order to follow the social distancing measures, the packets will be on a table in the entryway to the school for you to pick up. You will not need to come inside the building to get your packet. Those not picked up tomorrow will be mailed out to you on Friday afternoon. If you have questions or need to make other arrangements to pick up your child's packet, please contact the school or your child's teacher.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we all work through this together.

Mr. Hargis
