October Field Trip to the Panhandle Plains Museum

WOWW Factor Field Trip and Youth Art Contest Awards

3rd through 6th grade students attended the WOWW Factor 1940's USO show on their field trip Friday November 4th.  The students not only enjoyed the show but were also able to see our local students art on display with other students from the area.  Emma Wheeler was able to attend the Art Show awards and receive her award on Saturday, November 5th.  Click on the pictures to see the events of Friday and Saturday.

Emma Wheeler is a Winner at Art Show

Window on a Wider World is hosting its 9th annual youth art show November 5th at the Amarillo Civic Center Grand Plaza from 12 pm - 6 pm.   Our school was allowed to send 5 entries.  The students could choose from the following themes pertaining to music: songs, sounds, dance, movement, or rhythm.   We are excited to have a winner in this year’s contest.  Emma Wheeler was announced to us . . .

Century Club Star Wade Camden

Wade Camden is leading the ranks to success in reading.  He earned his Century Club status during the first six weeks of school.  He now has over 500 Accelerated Reader points! We challenge our students to earn 100 Accelerated Reader points each year.  Once they reach that goal they become a member of the Century Club and receive a free t-shirt.

Mobile Dairy Classroom Visits

Garret Wilson with Southwest Dairy Farmers visited Grandview-Hopkins Thursday October the 6 th .  He brought his dairy cow and explained that milk, and milk products like ice cream, yogurt, cheese, and others all come from dairy cows.  He talked about how important it is to take good care of the cows, so they are healthy and clean.  It depends on the breed of cow how much it can produce but on average 6 to 8 gallons a . . .

Hoover Volunteer Fireman Visit Grandview-Hopkins

   Fireman Lieutenant Johnny Goodson and several of his crew visited the school this past Thursday.  Lieutenant  Goodson visited with the children about fire safety and having an escape plan at home as well as at school. "Fire Won't Wait. Plan Your Escape"  is this year's theme.  All of the fireman showed their trucks and gear to the students and answered their questions.  . . .
