Element of Lines

Angel Wheeler

September 17, 2019

Kindergarteners have been busy in Fine Arts exploring the use of art materials, techniques and learning the element of lines. In order to begin painting, there’s a lot to cover first. We read a wonderful story called I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More! It uses humor and rhyming to show to only paint on paper, and not to paint on their heads or hands or legs or their friends’ heads or they won’t be painting anymore! We also met Mr. Paintbrush and found out he does not like his hair-do messed up! It’s important not to press too hard when using him. They made sure they kept him looking spiffy and practiced painting with a light touch using only water. They created many types of lines (our first element of art) and designs on their papers. They’ve also been exploring the use of colors and watching how spraying water on them allows them to mix and mingle creating new colors. This is our first step in learning our color wheel. They are excited to explore more!
