JUMP ROPE FOR HEART 2017
February 17, 2017
Our Jump Rope for Heart campaign has kicked off for this year! Our total school goal is to raise $1200! We can do it! We decided to change things up a bit for the top fundraisers for each class…this year the student with the highest dollar amount of donations from each grade will get to attend a special pizza and ice cream party!!!
The students have been enjoying our jump roping days and are learning “heart healthy facts”, as well as “heart fun facts”…
DID YOU KNOW…
-The average man’s heart pumps almost 2,000 gallons of blood EVERY DAY? That’s how much water some fire departments’ tanker trucks can hold!
-About 90% of Americans age 2 and up eat too much sodium…about the same number of American adults who own a cell phone!
-The blue whale is the animal with the largest heart…it weighs nearly 1,500 pounds! Talk about having a big heart!
We can all have healthy heart by doing the following:
-exercise 60 minutes every day
-add a fruit or vegetable to each meal
-choose water instead of sugary beverages
-say no to tobacco and e-cigarettes
-choose foods low in sodium
