Funds Raised for American Heart Association

March 22, 2016

Grandview-Hopkins helped earn donations for American Heart Association through Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart this year.  K-2nd participated in Jump Rope for Heart.  We learn different kinds of jumps. The basic forward and backward jump, Criss-cross, 180 degree jumps and long rope jumping, running in and out.  The students have fun while learning the importance of a healthy body. 3rd -6th participated in Hoops for Heart.  We had just finished up our basketball so we extended it with Hoops.  We played shooting games like Pig, Knock out, Around the World, and scrimmages on Fridays.  They improved on shots and learned rules of the game.  Every child participated in jump roping or shooting hoops.  We had 37 help earn donation for the American Heart Association.  We raise a total of $2,260 in donations.  The top student in Kindergarten was Anleigh Bowers earning $140.  Top 1st grader was Charles Hembree-Parkin earning $22.  Top 2nd grader was Alleigh Waters earning $260.  Top 3rd -4th grader was Paige Wilson earning $193.  Top 5th -6th grader was JoJo Ragsdale earning $238. Top school earner was Alleigh Waters with $260.  Everyone worked hard getting donations and Thanks to the online donations, $440 we exceeded our goal by $260.  Great Job!  Thank you, we would not be so successful without your support.

The top earner in the school got to pour ice water on Mr. Wilson, (see video).  The top earner in each teacher's room sprayed silly string on their teacher, (see slide show).
